The City's Housing Strategic Plan is Underway!

The City has started updating the Housing Strategic Plan that guides housing policy, sets housing goals, and creates a framework for City investments in the housing system. This plan is a collaborative, citywide effort being led by a team of staff and partners from Planning, Development & Transportation, Social Sustainability, and Home2Health. Over the next few months many people will be working diligently on this new plan and incorporating community feedback is one of our top priorities – adoption is planned for February 2021!

While previous plans have focused solely on designated Affordable Housing, this iteration of the Housing Strategic Plan will be a bit different. Council wants the plan to address the entire spectrum of housing needs in our community. The draft vision – Everyone has stable, healthy housing they can afford – reflects this shift in how the City is thinking about housing for all. See our timeline below!

Option 2: Invite Home2Health to Meet with Your Group or Organization

Are you part of a larger group or organization that wants to talk about housing? Sometimes a casual conversation works best. We would love to talk to your group about the Housing Strategic Plan at a time that works for you. For more information and to schedule a conversation, contact Shawna Van Zee, Planning Associate at svanzee@fcgov.com

Option 3: Become a Community Guide

Our partners at CSU’s Center for Public Deliberation have recently launched Phase 3 of the Home2Health Community Guide program. Community Guides work to lift the voices of our communities by conducting conversations within their own networks and providing feedback from those discussions to the City. Guides representing organizations and individuals host small group conversations that give community members an opportunity to share their experiences and thoughts related to housing and health. If you want to be a part of the Community Guide program, apply here! If you’re interested in becoming a Community Guide but would like to see what it entails, visit the Community Guide Training Hub, which offers online lessons on how to conduct conversations and connect with community members. This program is available in Spanish.

Option 4: “At Your Own Pace” Module

If you don’t have time to attend a virtual workshop, or if you aren’t much of a “workshop” person, the “at your own pace” module is for you! This online engagement option will walk you through each of the challenges to achieving the draft housing vision - Everyone has stable, healthy housing they can afford – and will give you an opportunity to help identify what steps we should take to address those challenges. Follow this link to the Housing Strategic Plan page where you can explore and participate!
