    College Ave/Hwy 287 is crazy

Through the historic downtown, and effectively splitting the city in two, College Ave is wide, loud, and dangerous for everyone involved. Crossing it as a cyclist and especially as a pedestrian is very slow, and you need to stand mere feet from high-speed (or speeding) traffic, making it loud and polluted. The land use directly around it, especially further south in the city, is terrible and very hostile to people, with massive parking lots and neglected strip malls. Crossing it (or going along it) is also very slow in the bus, as it is stuck at the traffic lights. Please fix this abysmal road!

    Community Safety & Engagement Plans

What is an example of community safety? Community safety and support encompass initiatives that foster belonging and social connections, address the needs of individuals and families, and work to prevent violence and injuries. Examples include mental health services, housing assistance, community centers, and financial aid programs. How can you contribute to a safe community? There are numerous actions you can take to enhance the health, safety, and cleanliness of your neighborhood. For instance, keep your porch light on at night and spend time outside in your yard. As a college student and mother of three, it's crucial for us to stay updated with the latest news and website updates to foster safer communities. For those who have the time to help monitor our neighborhoods, it’s beneficial, especially for those of us juggling busy schedules. Community vigilance makes a significant difference; when we work together, we can create a safer environment. Thank you to all the dedicated individuals who help keep us safe. Long-term residents contribute to stability in the area, and offering assistance to neighbors in need, such as helping with yard work, is valuable.

    Greenspaces

Would love to see more rooftop gardens, improved tree canopy along bike trails, and community gardening events for individuals or groups. I imagine many folks would be willing to volunteer to help create greenspaces which help cool the city.

    Neighborhood Snow Removal

Develop and implement a plan for snow removal in all residential neighborhoods. It is ridiculous that the streets in most residential areas never get plowed after snow storms.

Divert hydrocarbon trash to a W2E plant

Sweden and Norway safely burn their garbage to create energy. Rather than burying our plastic and paper in the ground to exist forever and leach into the water, we should carefully combust it to recover the energy and sequester the carbon dioxide that results.
