Big 2 story houses cost too much, most have a lot of wasted space, better housing design would bring down cost on 2 story houses. All houses

Small Starter Homes for Young Professionals
I believe there is a need in Fort Collins for more reasonably priced starter homes for young professionals. I believe there needs to be more homes in the $200-250k range and fewer in the $350-400k range. The market for large family homes is saturated. We need more options to retain our young talent graduating from CSU in order to protect the economic future of our city.

Greater legal framework for tiny homes.
Simplify the process and reduce unnecessary permitting hurdles.

Tiny houses aren't practical - should build micro-apartments
I see lots of ideas for tiny houses, but these still require land and separate utility hook-ups. A better approach would be tiny apartments. And these should be for low-income renters only/

Tiny House Communities
The City should partner with the American Tiny House Association (or similar organizations) and local nonprofits like CARE Housing and update its building codes to allow the building, occupancy, and maintenance of tiny house communities in order to alleviate the homeless crisis in Fort Collins. Given their size and increasing popularity nationwide, tiny homes would be a novel, fun, and economical way to give residents another option beyond apartments, condos, and single family homes...all of which are outrageously expensive. However, the City would need to ensure tiny homes are affordable and available to those who want and need them most; this means not allowing out-of-state investors to come in and increase the price artificially to where these dwellings are out of reach for the people they're meant to assist.
