A Neighborhood Meeting, held in an Open House format, has
been scheduled for Aug. 8 at the Drake Centre, 802 W. Drake Road, from 5 p.m.
to 8 p.m. The Neighborhood Meeting will include staff from Planning and
Development Services, Neighborhood Services, Natural Areas, Traffic Operations,
Utilities and others. There will also be multiple opportunities to provide
public comment on initial draft zoning proposals for the site.
On July 16th, 2019, City Council voted to initiate rezoning on the former Hughes Stadium site. This action directs staff to recommend zone district(s) for the site based on City Plan. This action separates the rezoning from a specific development plan. City Council will be the decision-makers on the rezoning.
Neighborhood meeting to allow the developer/applicant team to present their ideas and gather community input. City staff will also explain the City's review process and next steps.
On September 13th, the Planning and Zoning Board will hold a work session. City staff will present their recommendation regarding the rezoning of the Hughes property, along with a summary analysis of the public comments made at the neighborhood meeting and elsewhere regarding the rezoning process. While community members can attend a work session, public comment will not be allowed at the work session and must wait until the hearing on September 19th. This is standard practice for all Council, Boards and Commissions work sessions.
