CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION
A City Council work session on local Oil and Gas siting regulations has been scheduled for January 26, 2021. The work session was originally scheduled in April 2020, but was delayed to accommodate pressing topics related to the COVID-19 pandemic. Discussions will focus on ways the City could regulate the siting of new oil and gas development within City limits, results from community engagement thus far, and regulations adopted by the State through the Mission Change Rulemakings.
BACKGROUND
In April 2019, Senate Bill 181 was adopted in Colorado, which provides local governments authority to regulate the location and surface impacts of oil and gas development. The City of Fort Collins is currently exploring oil and gas regulations and collecting community feedback.
While the main Oil and Gas page will remain active, the OurCity page will contain all of the information related to the development of local regulations, including public outreach opportunities, until regulations are fully adopted.
