What's the difference between commercial and residential?

    For this project, commercial properties include businesses, multi-family apartments, and the common spaces of HOAs. Think of properties that either serve a business or can be used by multiple residents. 

    Residential properties are limited to single-family houses and duplexes.

    Who will these proposals affect?

    Each proposal affects slightly different groups, but all proposals will be applied within Fort Collins city limits, no matter the water district.

    Proposal 1.

    • Turf maximum: This proposal will affect all new commercial and residential development and redevelopment. This proposal will NOT affect current home or business owners.

    Proposal 2. 

    • Dedicated irrigation to trees: This proposal will affect all new commercial and residential development and redevelopment. This proposal will NOT affect current home or business owners.
    • Residential high-efficiency irrigation standards: This proposal will affect all residential new development and redevelopment. This proposal will NOT affect current homeowners.
    • Water window (no watering 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.): This proposal will affect ALL community members in the City of Fort Collins.

    Proposal 3. 

    • Soil Amendment updates: This proposal will affect all community members who plant new vegetation and plan to disturb more than 1,000 square feet of soil.
