Community members can learn about and share input on the budget before it is adopted by City Council through public meetings and by reviewing budget materials.

For the 2027-2028 Budget, which is developed in 2026, there are some key milestones to be aware of:

• A budget update for City Council will occur at the July 14 Work Session offering the public's first look at the themes and overall direction for the 2027-2028 Budget. No public comment occurs at work sessions.
• The City Manager's Recommended Budget will be published on Sept. 3, kicking off the community's most significant review period, including multiple public comment opportunities directly with City Council. The review period is September and October. See key dates to learn more. 

Community members are always welcome and encouraged to share thoughts and ideas with their elected officials. You can reach all City Councilmembers by emailing CityLeaders@FortCollins.gov. 

During key planning efforts, City staff engage with community members to understand their interests, needs and hopes for Fort Collins. The feedback gathered through these efforts helps shape important planning documents. These plans then guide the budget requests that get considered for inclusion in the City Manager's Recommended Budget.
