Project Overview
The City's priorities, goals and values are defined and reflected in the Strategic Plan and Budget, both of which work in tandem with City Plan (Fort Collins’ comprehensive plan). While City Plan(External link) articulates a long-term community vision and growth framework, the strategic plan outlines short- and mid-term objectives, influences the City’s budgeting process, and guides the implementation of the City’s full range of services.
The strategic plan addresses seven priorities or “outcome areas”:
- High Performing Government
- Culture & Recreation
- Economic Health
- Environmental Health
- Neighborhood & Community Vitality
- Safe Community
- Transportation & Mobility
Every odd year (the budget process occurs on even years), the City updates its strategic plan and conducts public engagement to review progress and make adjustments. The City uses many tools for this purpose, including the Fort Collins Community Survey(External link), a large, statistically rigorous survey sent out by the City to residents. Other sources of information include online surveys, forums, public meetings, outreach events, social media and this OurCity page.
We believe in transparent, community-driven decision-making and invite our residents to share their valuable insights. Your input is vital in guiding the future of Fort Collins, and we welcome your active participation in this important process.
