Southeast Community Center (SECC)
About the Southeast Community Center
In 2023, the City of Fort Collins and Poudre Libraries announced a joint commitment to open a new community center and library in southeast Fort Collins.
The community center, which was promised to voters in 2015 as part of the approved Community Capital Improvement Program, will feature multi-use spaces for recreation, fitness, creativity, innovation, intergenerational programs, a state-of-the-art public library and both indoor and outdoor aquatic facilities.
The center will be built on 10 acres of land in cooperation with Poudre School District, adjacent to Fossil Ridge High School and north of Twin Silo Community Park. The design and construction of the facility is a collaborative partnership between the City of Fort Collins and Poudre Libraries.

Share Will there an event floor comparable to the size of the prairie sage Ballroom at the senior center? Will there be hardwood floor space for dancing? If not, I hope perhaps one of the spaces and the planning can be reconfigured. Prairie sage and Club Tico are the only two spaces in FC for dancing events with a stage suitable for dancing. lboesen asked 3 months agoHi, thank you for your question! The design team is currently looking at many options for the flexible-use spaces within the facility. Your interest in the dance/event rooms will be shared with the planning team. As decisions are finalized regarding the floor plans and layout, we will continue to share updates with the public. Thanks!

eliprand asked 3 months agoThank you for your question. A traffic study has been conducted, and the traffic patterns are being considered by the planning team as they develop the site. The current draft design has planned entrance/exit points for the facility located on Rock Creek Dr. and Ziegler Rd.

Share Northern Colorado and specifically Fort Collins is known across the country as a place that produces a lot of quality swimming, but we haven’t kept up with demand and we are short in places to swim laps and places to hold competitions. We can do better! Please tweak these plans to allow for competitions at this pool. Epic is not enough. We need to give kids opportunities to be active and healthy and this could support that. We need a viewing area, a time system, starting blocks and the pool should be deep. Our high schools all have swim teams, there are two competitive swim teams in town and a lot of masters swimmers that lack access to a great pool. on Facebook Share Northern Colorado and specifically Fort Collins is known across the country as a place that produces a lot of quality swimming, but we haven’t kept up with demand and we are short in places to swim laps and places to hold competitions. JohnDoebb asked 3 months agoThank you for your comments and questions. Initial plans for the pool include the option for a water depth of 6-7 feet throughout the lap lanes, starting blocks, a timing system and on deck viewing. The final design and scope of the indoor lap lanes is still being determined and priced, though, with final designs dependent upon total cost and budget available. We will continue to provide updates as the plans are finalized.

Share As a parent, my biggest barrier to using current city facilities is that none provide drop in childcare to use while working out. (I am aware that some have preschool programs and programs where the parent stays with the child.) I would love to see a drop in childcare option similar to what Loveland and Windsor offer their citizens. A drop in fee or separate subscription fee for the childcare would be completely welcome. Private gyms in the area generally offer options for 1.5 to 2 hours. I would really like to see something similar offered at the new community center. Share Any chance the indoor pool will have more than lap lanes? Waterslides and a lazy river would be amazing for families to use during the winter. A wave pool would be amazing but I’m sure that’s asking a bit much. Something more than just lap lanes would be great. on Facebook Share Any chance the indoor pool will have more than lap lanes? ColoradoMom asked 5 months agoThank you for your interest in the Southeast Community Center project! The current design includes an indoor 10-lane lap pool, and the project team is exploring the possibility of incorporating features like diving boards and a ninja course. The budget does not support additional leisure water amenities at this time. Leisure-focused elements like waterslides and a lazy river are included in the plans for the outdoor pool as outlined in the 2015 voter-approved ballot language. The approved ballot specifically requires those types of amenities to be located outdoors. We appreciate your feedback and invite you to stay involved as the project continues to take shape.

Rdarling18 asked 5 months agoThank you for your question! At this time, there are no plans to include an ice rink as part of the Southeast Community Center. Ice facilities were not included in the 2015 ballot language that guides this project, and the current funding does not support adding that type of amenity. We appreciate your interest and encourage you to stay involved as this project moves forward.

RuthB asked 4 months agoHello, thank you for your question. The planned gymnasium will support badminton, pickleball, volleyball, basketball and other court sports. The gymnasium will be available for both drop-in and scheduled programmed use throughout the week. The planning team is working to develop a site plan that will best address the desires of the community and the activities they would like to do in a new center. Thank you!

Username asked 6 months agoThank you for your question! The project team is working closely with staff at Poudre School District on the planning and development of the project. Currently, the majority of the existing disc golf course next to Fossil Ridge High School is not located within the community center property. That being said, there will be impacts to the course, in some capacity, as the planning continues and construction begins. We will share information with the community as those plans become finalized.
