Fort Collins Broadband Project

Broadband Bonds to be Issued

Adding another strand in the journey to connecting the community to high-speed fiber, the City is moving forward with issuing bonds to fund the project.

The bonds will be backed by the City’s Light and Power Utility, and while most will be sold to institutional investors, there is an option for the public to purchase smaller $1,000 bonds in the project.

The City does not directly sell bonds to investors. Those interested in buying bonds can purchase through brokers from any one of three firms who are underwriting the securities.

The Fort Collins Broadband project is underway! After receiving voter approval in November 2017 and at the direction of City Council, the City is moving forward with building and implementing high speed next-generation broadband to the entire community. This will take 3 to 4 years and include the entire growth management area (GMA) as land is annexed.

To stay up to speed (pun intended!) on this project REGISTER here. Once registered you can also ask questions in the Q & A tab and drop a pin on the PLACES MAP showing us where you would like City broadband service.
